Our Story

Proto_Sellerie is a family-owned and operated business has its roots in the textile industry in Mauritius and has been providing high-quality upholstery services for over 60 years. Two Peerally brothers were passionate about creating custom luxurious and comfortable leather seats and interiors. In 1975, they took their business to both France and Switzerland, specifically in the Aviation Industry, upholstering seats for private jets. Fazal Peerally, one of the brothers, worked his way up to leading a team of professional upholsterers at Le Bourget airport in Paris. As a very sought-after upholsterer, he was designing and building seats for private planes all over the world, inlcluding the french company Dassault, african and Saudi princes, presidents and diplomats, as well as the pope Jean Paul II and prince Rainier de Monaco.

Over the years, the brothers have passed down their knowledge and skills to a new generation, while also implemented new contemporary methods and designs to stay ahead of the curve. In 2006, the business moved back to Mauritius and in 2017, Proto_Sellerie was born. They eventually opened a new location and showroom that represents the level of skill and elevated luxury that clients seek.

Indeed, Proto_Sellerie yields an unprecidented attention to detail and craftsmanship that sets them apart from other vehicle upholstery businesses. They work with fine, “Haut-de-gamme” Nappa leathers of the highest quality, as well as Alcantara, the latter of which can only be found in Proto_Sellerie designed car seats. Besides luxury vehicles, they also specilize in unique and vintage car interiors, as well as helicopter upholstery. Their work is alway unique and custom “sur mesure”, their taste is quintessentally French.

Proto_Sellerie is proud of its long history in the upholstery business, and the business is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence.
